Doodle bug

This is Mac-a-doodle. Otherwise known as Doodle bug, Smackers, lil' Kenny, or Macaroosie. I may have mentioned him once or twice or a thousand times. See, this little guy has me wrapped around his pinky. He has turned into such a little man the last six months since his second birthday. Riding his wiggle to church, playing with the neighbors, making jokes at the dinner table and just being an all around adorable munchkin. He is having the "terrific two's" instead of the terrible twos. He likes to be watched and make other people laugh. He's a natural actor, much like his father (so very unlike his mother). I'm going to attempt to potty train him next month but he's not real thrilled with the idea even when I throw in a candy incentive and special 'tiny potty'. Perhaps some superhero underwear will give him the motivation we need. Sometimes at the end of the day I just think about something he has said or done and laugh all over again. Like last week when I bought a watermelon and cut his slice in two so he could eat it easier. He was about to cry that I had cut it but David said, "Look now you have two peices!" and that pretty much saved me. "Yeah! two pieces!" Happy and out the door with his watermelon. I'm going to be sad when this one gets bigger.

Stars and Smiles

These were the pair of bows I took to church with me today. Aren't they cute? Happy Memorial day.

Kindergarten play

At Gabe's elementary school the kindergarten children all get to be part of a short play at the end of the year. There were six plays in all. Gabe was assigned to be the wizard in an abbreviated version of a story called Take Care Good Knight. He had all of four lines to recite, but delivered them with much gusto and enthusiasm. The cat was a prop in the play. Unfortunately the stories were switched in the program so I thought his play was second and I sent Zach to go change the baby's diaper during the first play. Opps! Gabe's play was first so Zach missed his first two lines, ie. half his speaking part. Since Gabe spoke so loudly Zach still could hear them from the bathroom though. I felt terrible but hopefully my husband can find it in his heart to forgive me. Good job Gabe!

Strawberry Shortcake

Ruth Anne Hutchins
4 month check up

Weight    13 lb 7 oz    50%
Length    24.5 in        60%
Head       16 in            45%

When I was a kid, I had a neighborhood friend whose dad would always call me shortcake. This is the new and improved version. She is still a little sore after her tetanus shot in the leg yesterday, but other wise a happy healthy baby. She likes to roll, drool, smile, laugh, coo, play peek a boo, and try to hold things (as of last week) to put them in her mouth.

Doesn't the hat just make her face look so fat and round?

She obviously doesn't care for the French styling of her hat

Oh wait, maybe that's her cheeks that do that

Everything but the game

We took the kidos to a BYU women's softball game a few weeks ago and it was a chilly spring day. (I'll take chilly over 90 any day) By the time the sun went down we were all wearing our coats. Despite the weather and the fact that softball isn't real interesting if you are a small child, the boys still had fun. Zach and I enjoyed watching the Cougars score a victory over the other team while our children climbed over seats, ate snacks, ran around and did other really wonderful small boy stuff.

Its a bad picture, I know, but this is Mac getting acquainted with someone in the BYU dugout.
He's a friendly little bug.

During the 7th inning stretch the fans got up to do the Hanna Montana dance. A bunch of tiny-boppers led by the husky fellow in the white shirt. He was a little too good. I had a good chuckle.

Us girls just trying to stay warm.

The real reason we came- fireworks. The boys all agreed that this was their favorite part.

Till next year BYU women's softball.

Shout Hooray

Look who's six!  Top six reasons I love Gabe:

He has the energy of at least two little boys

He's a great reader and has really worked hard this year to improve

He has a happy contagious smile

He loves all things beautiful and all things that grow

His best friends are his two younger brothers

He is very sensitive to other people's feelings

Some of the balloons had change in them

Gabe's cake request this year was a pirate ship. It was my first attempt at fondant but it won't be my last. It was a fun cake to make.
