Bubble Bath

The days are long but the years are short. The wisest advice on mothering I've heard up to date is to not hurry them. Just enjoy it. I think of this most piece of wisdom often at bath time. Just let them play  because they only have a limited number of these water play dates to enjoy. I'll blink and they will be learning Latin. I'll blink again and they will be learning to drive. Lucky am I to have bath duty.

First Day Butterflies

Don't Judge. I know school started a month and a half ago. It's been busy around here. I'm sure you can relate

The first day is a mixture of excitement and dread. Will I make friends? Will I like my teachers? Will they like me? It's no different around here. We've had some bumps and challenges in the last two month, but over all, they are doing just fine.

Morning Eyes

Our kitchen window faces east and when I turned around from doing the morning dishes I saw this: "Hold still Ruthie, Mommy needs to get her camera."

There's just something about that morning light that makes colors pop

Mom, Lincoln's Dancing!

David called me in from the kitchen to take a picture of him and our youngest having a dance party in the living room. Skinny-mini and chubby-lubby having a good time just being silly. It is hard to believe, but David was even more of a tank than Lincoln. He was a back breaker as a baby and now look at him? Shot up like a bean pole. If he lifts his shirt we can count his ribs. My heart comes in all shapes and sizes.

Happy Birthday!

No one actually has a birthday in our family in October. Humm, these pictures may be a month and a half old. That's Okay though. At least the dinner party I threw for Zach wasn't a month and a half late. The night was complete with a garden green beans, a second birthday dessert, and a white elephant book exchange. (I'd already made a German chocolate cake on his actual birthday 2 days before.) Zach prayed over the food and as per tradition in our house, we went around the table all saying things that we love about him. It wasn't hard to think of many different reasons.
