Look who finally lost his first tooth. It was all very exciting for about five days, since the time he first noticed the jiggly spot in his mouth. Loose teeth are always fun to wiggle around inside your mouth, and especially if it is your first. The tooth fairy was very obliging and brought him a dollar covered in glittery tooth fairy dust the night he lost it. (I think she must have gotten the idea from Pintrest) Gabe was simply bubbly the next morning when he showed us all the midnight exchange. It is fun to have Gabe in our family, he just gets excited about life.

Say anything but 'cheese'
Mac-Stack started preschool this year. He is only two but he is such a social little bug and he seemed so interested since his brothers were going that we put him in too. I'm sure he will thrive, if we can just get him to remember to use the restroom. It is just once a week on Fridays but he talks about it all the time. "I go to preschool too. I go on Fridays. I go one time a week. I go to the same preschool David does.My teacher is Ms. Diana. She is really nice...." It is pretty cute. Let's face it, he is pretty cute.
This was supposed to be a 'first day picture' where he smiles at the camera and I go 'click' but that didn't happen.
An unsolicited 'cheese' face. Mom: no Mac, don't say cheese. Put your hands down |
Mom: Mac look here, look at the camera. Mac: PRESCHOOL! |
Mom: Mac, smile when you look at the camera. |
Mom: Good smiling, now look at the camera |
Mac: Hooray for preschool! Mom: oh I give up. We'll try some other time. |

You are
Boys...
You are stronger than you think
You are smarter than you seem
You are braver than you know
- Christerpher Robin (A.H. Milne)
You are kinder than you feel

Good Luck with first grade and preschool boys! I love you.
(Mac had so many funny faces while I was trying to get him
to smile, he needs his own post)

Meeting Grampy
Ruthie and I just got back from a trip to New England to visit Zach's family so that they could meet the newest Hutchins member. She was a stellar baby on both flights going and coming, melting the hearts of everyone she met. As we were getting off the airplane people were saying, "Good bye Ruth Anne, you were such a good baby. What a sweet heart" etc. I'm lucky; no one wants to be the mom of the crier. It makes for very unpleasant traveling. She was even more loved when we actually arrived. We look forward to Christmas we our whole family will be flying out there. Zach will be doing double duty though. His big English conference this year is in Boston so he will be commuting to go to job interviews and conference presentations.
See you soon Grampy!

Bat Boy
Introducing Bat Boy!
(Not the kind that brings the bats to the hitters)
David takes great pleasure in putting together his own costumes and it is fun to see what he comes up with. Dress up isn't just for Halloween around here.

Innocent By-standard
Ruth and Naomi played the part of audience while I tried to teach Naomi's friend Tyler how to make a bow tie. Tyler wanted a bow tie for his upcoming birthday and I said I would be happy to oblige. He came over for dinner and stayed for bow tie making 101. I say "tried" because Tyler doesn't actually sew and when we were about 90% through he accidentally poked some holes in the fabric when we were turning it right side out. At that point it was past 10:00 and I just said, "Tyler, I'll make it for you and get it back to you in a few days." He was so polite, he said OK and Thank you very much. I think he also thanked me for dinner three times. I like Tyler, but a seamstress, he is not. Ruthie is sporting some of the left over material.

Happy
This is from throwing rocks into the Provo river on our mother-son date
This is from painting his Home Depot project in the morning (a small framed cork board)
You can't see it but his shorts are wet from playing in the sprinkler at a friend's house
This clown smile is from the "hurricane-tiger blood" shaved ice we picked up in the afternoon 95 degree weather
(I tasted that concoction and it was sickly sweet; Gabe seemed to enjoy it nonetheless)
110% little boy, 110% happy
Boy: (n) a [joyful] noise with dirt on it.
